Casa Camuzzi/Ticino 1919. Hermann Hesse's marriage is in ruins, his wife is in a mental hospital, his children are with friends, he himself is in psychotherapy and is deeply disturbed. In this severe life crisis, the image of Klingsor emerges from the depths of his soul - a mirror image, a caricature of Hesse himself. With the figure of the painter Klingsor, he explores the most beautiful, but also the most hideous corners of the artist's soul and thereby saves himself. Klingsor, the magician, has no solution - only transformation. Hesse drives his character as close to the brink of death as possible. Balancing on the fine line between form and madness is Li Tai Pe, Klingsor's only companion and refuge. At the end there is the image of a face. Hesse can lock it up, throw away the key and walk away calmly: towards new characters who will be more balanced than the torn and adventurous magician Klingsor. The story of a self-analysis.

PRESS REVIEWS
