Paris 1838. The most provocative woman in France, George Sand, and the celebrated Polish musician Frédéric Chopin become a couple. All of Paris waits for the couple's relationship to fail. But things turn out differently. They stay together for nine years and create immortal masterpieces. Their passionate love only ends shortly before Chopin's death. “Musically – profound”
In this audio book narrator duet, the different characters of Chopin and Sand are brought out very well, without neglecting the attempt to live together. The fragile, at times self-pitying but equally brilliant composer and the ambitious writer with the false belief that she can save him with a love that is at times motherly - a couple that fails because of each other and because of themselves. Tragic, sad and yet comforting. Plus a beautiful selection of classical music, mainly by Chopin. The audio book by Gabriele Schelle is a pleasure on many levels.
