Artistic director Konstanze Ullmer has been with the Sprechwerk from the very beginning and is now the artistic and commercial director of the Sprechwerk. After studying acting at the Fritz Kirchhoff School in Berlin, she worked on many German stages between 1989 and 2003 (Deutsches Theater Berlin, Theater der Altmark Stendal, Komödie am Kurfürstendamm Berlin, Zimmertheater Heidelberg, Komödie Dresden, Winterhuder Fährhaus Hamburg, Altonaer Theater Hamburg, etc.).From 2002 to 2004 she studied cultural management at the University of Music and Theater Hamburg. While she was still studying (and simultaneously working as an actress), she took over production management for the diploma productions of the music theater directing course.
Immediately after graduating in 2004, she came across the newly founded Hamburger Sprechwerk. Since then, she has been responsible for artistic direction in a team with Andreas Lübbers.Since 2005, she has directed various works, mostly world premieres, and has performed them at international festivals (Ukraine, Armenia, Macedonia, Kosovo, Lithuania, etc.).
Konstanze Ullmer is also a sought-after speaker and can often be heard in audio book and radio play productions.
She has successfully directed major stage plays for Sprechwerk (including “Silent Rebels”, “The Burrow”, “1984 – A Nightmare”).At the Hamburger Sprechwerk, she initiated the series “Wortgefechte”, in which she implements her claim to dialogue-rich, relevant and emotional spoken theater. With a core team (actors, set and costume designers, directors), she has already realized “The Satanic Verses/The Love Council” (director: Ullmer) as well as “Antarctica” and “In a State of Emergency” (director: Friederike Barthel). More plays will follow.
