André Becker, born in 1968 in Männedorf (Switzerland), studied applied theater studies in Gießen in the early 1990s. After working as an assistant director at the Theater Basel and the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg, he worked freelance as a dramaturge, director, production manager and actor, including at the Schauspielhaus Zürich, the Theater Winkelwiese in Zurich, the Theater Rampe in Stuttgart and the Lucerne Theater. From 2007 to 2009 he was a dramaturge at the Theater Aachen, where he was responsible for Mörgens, the venue for young theater, experiments and one-off special events. He then worked as a dramaturge and director at the Theater Rampe Stuttgart from 2009 to 2013. From 2014 to 2020 he was employed as a dramaturge at the Schleswig-Holstein State Theater, where he also directed youth plays and took on smaller tasks as an actor. Since the 2020 season he has been chief dramaturge and member of the drama management at the Stadttheater Gießen.
